Barley Tisane and Infusions

tiʃàna s. f. [from Lat. tisăna, variant of ptisăna, and this from the Greek πτισάνη “hulled barley and decoction of barley”, derived from πτίσσω “hull, peel”]

Properly, barley decoction; more generally, a medicinal type infusion used as a sedative or emollient, already known to the ancient Greeks as Hippocrates’ herbal tea.

BARLEY TISANE and INFUSIONS is a KIT that contains 8 packages chosen from our different presentations of toasted ground hulled barley.

This KIT consists of:

  • 3 boxes of TISANE of ground roasted hulled barley, each containing 12 filter bags of 8 g each, useful for a preparation (4/5 minutes) of an infusion (herbal tea) of barley in a single cup of 150 cl of boiling water.
  • 3 teas of ground roasted hulled barley with anise, each containing 12 filter bags, 8 g each, useful for a preparation (4/5 minutes) of an infusion (herbal tea) of barley with anise in a cup single 150 cl of boiling water.

“Tisane” are our new presentation of ground roasted hulled barley, recently made in filter bags, such as those usually used for tea. The filter bags are made of PLA TNT, an innovative 100% biodegradable bioplastic, untreated and glue-free. Each filter bags is protected by an aroma-saving wrapping.

Each filter bag contains 8 g of the product and should be used to infuse for 4/5 minutes in a cup containing about 150 cl of boiling water.

  • 1 750 g pack of ground roasted hulled barley useful for the preparation of an infusion to be prepared with Moka, with press filter (French press) or other method of infusion (such as Melitta Bentz).
  • 1 250 g jar of ground roasted hulled barley useful for the preparation of an infusion to be prepared with Moka, with press filter (French press) or other method of infusion (such as Melitta Bentz).

For these last two packs of bulk product, the dose to be used is about 1 part of ground roasted hulled barley for 9/10 parts of water, depending on the preferred concentration.
